Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis

Shery Azimi began working at City of Hope in June 1999. Her areas of responsibility include financial analysis related to City of Hope clinical programs and contracts, along with market analysis and comparative data analysis. Her department serves as the link between the clinical data and the financial data that is used by various departments to support the decisions they make and the financial impact of those decisions.

Additionally, Azimi’s responsibilities include directing all operational aspects of the annual budget and monitoring budget variance and perform financial analysis throughout the year. Also under her responsibility areas is analysis and modeling of managed care reimbursement, which involves calculation and analysis of expected payment from various third party payors. Azimi also is in charge of program office which tracks and monitors the Strategic Plan of the City of Hope.  In this role she works with several initiative teams, monitors organizational progress and ensures that City of Hope meets the critical milestones of the plan.

Prior to joining City of Hope, Azimi was employed with St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angeles. There, she managed the decision support and cost accounting departments. She successfully installed St. Vincent’s decision support system and their first comprehensive productivity and benchmarking tool.

She received her master’s degree in business administration from Cal Poly Pomona and is a certified public accountant. Her expertise lies in health care financial operations including analysis and flexible budgeting concepts.
