Sally Htoy, Pharm.D., pharmacy clinical manager, has been recognized as one of 50 “Hospital Hero” nominees by the Healthcare Association of Southern California.

Her contribution to the improvement of City of Hope’s Investigational Drugs Service processes to enhance patient safety and protocol compliance was a factor leading to her nomination.

Htoy has been a part of the City of Hope professional pharmacy staff for nearly 10 years. She has led efforts to provide safe and effective pharmaceutical care to each patient in a financially responsible manner. She has a reputation as a courteous, knowledgeable team player and has earned her the respect of clinical leadership, enabling her to drive performance improvement projects forward.

Her leadership in clinical research has elevated her contributions to “Hero” status, according to colleagues.

Htoy has coordinated efforts by City of Hope clinical researchers to ensure they conduct scientifically significant studies while providing appropriate processes to protect patients’ safety.

Htoy’s efforts have helped staff adhere more closely to clinical trials’ strict guidelines.

Hospital leadership formally recognized Htoy for her preliminary accomplishments in improving outcomes. Her nomination as a “Hospital Hero” was celebrated at a National Health Foundation ceremony in November.
