Runners, joggers and walkers can still sign up for a 5k and 1-mile fun run that will precede baseball’s upcoming All-Star Game; funds will benefit City of Hope and three other national nonprofits.
The All-Star Game Charity 5k & Fun Run presented by Nike in Anaheim, Calif., will take place July 11. Thanks to sponsoring companies that are covering event costs, Major League Baseball will donate all monies from registration to City of Hope, the Prostate Cancer Foundation, Stand Up To Cancer and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Last year’s All-Star Game run drew 8,000 participants; organizers aim to draw 10,000 runners this year.
The baseball-themed course begins at Angel Stadium and travels through the surrounding neighborhood.
The 5k will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the family-friendly fun run will begin at 8 a.m. All finishers will receive a commemorative All-Star medal and T-shirt. Cost for 5k: Adults $30, children $25 (online registration) through July 6; $5 more on the day of the event.
