Held at Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club on June 7, the event honored the Navarra family and Lee Goodman, both of Jerome’s Furniture in San Diego, with a lifetime achievement award for their more than 50 years of community service, philanthropic efforts and business accomplishments.

“We are honored to receive such a prestigious award from City of Hope,” said Jerry Navarra, chair of Jerome’s Furniture. “Tens of thousands of people will be diagnosed with cancer this year, and they need the best care possible, so it’s important that we support City of Hope’s efforts to quickly turn promising scientific discoveries into new treatments for patients who need it.”

The annual golf and tennis tournament has raised more than $5 million since it began in 1991.

The National Home Furnishings Industry group was created more than 40 years ago by industry leaders who wanted to help fund the search for a cure for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. It has grown to include representatives from all facets of the industry including retail, manufacturing and publishing. In its 45-year history, the group has raised more than $43 million for City of Hope.
