Celebrities are putting pen to paper to raise funds to support City of Hope’s breast cancer research, treatment and education programs — and City of Hope employees and supporters can, too.

Throughout October, Sharpie will donate $1 to City of Hope for every pink autograph uploaded to its site, www.sharpieuncapped.com, up to $10,000.

Several celebrities, including music icon and self-described breast cancer “thriver” Olivia Newton-John, actress and multiplatinum recording artist Miley Cyrus and pro football legend Jerome Bettis, already submitted pink signatures online and are encouraging others to “ink it pink” in support of the cause.

Sharpie has partnered with City of Hope since 2006 through the sale of its Pink Ribbon marker; a portion of the marker’s sales benefit breast cancer research, part of the Women’s Cancers Program. Since 2006, Sharpie parent company Newell Rubbermaid has donated more than $1 million to cancer programs at City of Hope.

“The ‘Ink it Pink’ effort is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of breast cancer and positively influence the lives of women and their families who are facing this disease,” said Steve Martin, associate vice president of marketing at City of Hope.

“We urge everyone at City of Hope to upload their own pink signatures to the website to support greater awareness about breast cancer.”
