The City of Hope community will unite Nov. 17 to pay tribute to Ben Horowitz, the institution’s visionary former leader. Horowitz died Oct. 2 at age 96.
Horowitz became City of Hope’s chief executive officer in 1953 and led the institution through its most dramatic period of growth over the next 32 years. During that time, the organization expanded from just a few buildings focused on tuberculosis to a 100-acre medical research center known for its compassionate patient care and innovative research.
The tribute event, scheduled at noon in Cooper Auditorium, will honor Horowitz’s legacy and celebrate his impact on City of Hope’s future. Lunch will be provided to those who R.S.V.P. for the event in advance; R.S.V.P. to Deanna Tetlow at ext. 62471 or dtetlow@coh.org by Nov. 15.
