Jodi Burke has joined City of Hope as vice president of human resources, effective May 3.

Burke will focus on ensuring that human resources support is aligned with the strategic goals of each City of Hope entity: Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, the National Medical Center, and Development and External Affairs. She will assist with human resources aspects of the creation of City of Hope’s new medical foundation, as well.
In addition, Burke will work with City of Hope leaders to build an integrated human resources business partnership model — a way to directly align City of Hope leaders and staff with the institution’s strategies and initiatives — and develop programs that will foster a more productive, effective and positive work environment.
She aims to provide managers with tools, training and resources to be more effective and efficient in the areas of talent and development planning and performance management. Burke also will work with the Communications Department to build internal and external human resources communications.
Most recently, Burke was vice president of human resources at Dermalogica Inc. Previously, she held positions of increasing responsibility at Paramount Pictures Corporation, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and American Honda Motor Company Inc.
Burke, who has 18 years of experience in human resources, is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, Professionals in Human Resources Association and World at Work: The Total Rewards Assocation. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif.
