Family fun for a bargain at employee picnic

City of Hope employees and their family members will enjoy games, food and entertainment at the annual Employee and Family Picnic on Oct. 22.

The “Taste of California” event will give attendees a flavor of different parts of the state, from the beaches of Santa Monica to the redwoods in the north.

Family activities and games will include pie eating and hula hoop contests, ring tossing, a “sand crab crawl” and many more. The picnic will feature a beach-themed area, an Olvera Street fiesta section and a space dedicated to Northern California. Other activities include a rock-climbing wall and panning for gold.

Tickets for employees at the Duarte campus and the Development Center in Los Angeles will be sold in each location’s respective mailroom Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Duarte employees also may buy tickets from mailroom staff members each Tuesday and Thursday when they are delivering mail throughout the campus.

In addition, employees at the Monrovia Administrative Center may contact Lily Correa (lcorrea@coh.org) and City of Hope Medical Foundation employees may contact Emma Ibarra (eibarra@cohmg.com) for tickets.

City of Hope employees also may purchase tickets by contacting Cyndi Angulo at ext. 62233.

Tickets cost $3 in advance and $5 the day of the event. For more information, contact Kathy Guevara at kguevara@coh.org.

The Employee and Family Picnic takes place Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Pioneer Park on the Duarte campus (between the Platt Conference Center and the Rose Garden).



Learn more about benefits for staff at upcoming fairs

City of Hope employees can expect prizes, food and valuable information about their benefits at several upcoming fairs. Each location also will feature free flu shots for employees.

The Benefits Fairs will include representatives from all of City of Hope’s benefit vendors, as well as special presentations from TIAA-CREF, the administrator of City of Hope’s retirement plan.

Benefits Fairs schedule:

  • Development Center: Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Duarte campus (Cooper Auditorium): Oct. 26, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Monrovia Administrative Center (first floor conference rooms): Nov. 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
