Donate used business clothing to help others land the jobs they need

by Cheryl Regan

City of Hope employees can clean out their closet while helping those who are in need of business attire.

Members of City of Hope’s chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) and City of Hope are holding a drive for used business clothing. Employees, patients and community members are encouraged to donate to help people who cannot afford new clothing for upcoming interviews and potential jobs.

The event will take place on Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Platt Conference Center in Room 2, as well as at a drop-off location along the green curb on Duarte Road on the north side of the Duarte campus. Requested items include business suits for men and women, dress shirts and ties, skirts, blouses, slacks and shoes.

Volunteers will deliver the business clothing to the nonprofit organization Clothes the Deal.

Clothes the Deal provides business attire to help low-income people achieve their goals. The group offers workshops to help prepare them for the work environment and strives to empower men and women to gain and sustain employment.

IAAP and City of Hope ask that all items be clean, in good condition and in a bag or on hangers. Large and extra large sizes are appreciated as well. All donations are tax-deductible. For more information about the clothing drive, contact Roberta Adcock at ext. 63375 or at radcock@coh.org.
