Achievements in 2007 set the bar even higher for 2008

Can we count on your continued partnership?

Men and women connected with City of Hope received some notable honors in 2007. For example, as you can read about on page three of this issue of HopeConnection, no fewer than 26 of our physicians were included in the latest edition of America's Top Doctors for Cancer.

The institution as a whole was recognized for our shared contributions to the fight against cancer and other deadly diseases, too. This included being ranked among "America's Best Hospitals" by U.S. News & World Report.

This is all something to be proud of. I congratulate my colleagues for their individual achievements and for the recognition we have all earned together.
However, if you have been reading HopeConnection for any length of time, you will not be surprised to see me write that I do not consider this good enough.

The recognition we have achieved is a reflection of the work we do as a team every day -- doctors, nurses, researchers, teachers, administrators, all of us -- to make life better for current and future patients.

But there is so much more still to be done. The achievements of 2007 -- the honors and recognition, but more importantly the medical and scientific advances that seldom make headlines -- only set the bar higher. Friends like you who support us so generously expect nothing less.

As my colleagues and I rededicate ourselves to the work we are doing in 2008, I invite you to do the same. Please use the enclosed reply form to send a partnership renewal gift.

You are a vital part of the City of Hope team, and your generosity is the engine that drives the work we do. I look forward to having you stand with us again in the new year.
