The City of Hope Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute are located in Duarte, California, in the San Gabriel Valley approximately 10 miles east of Pasadena. The 112-acre, campus-style site is composed of 115 buildings, ranging from modular laboratories to the stunning new Helford Clinical Research Hospital, many with views of Mt. Baldy and the nearby San Gabriel Mountains.

The campus sits on City of Hope’s original location which dates back to 1913, when a small group of dedicated working-class men and women erected two tents as an infirmary for underprivileged tuberculosis sufferers. From these humble beginnings arose today’s world-class research and patient care facilities, situated amidst beautifully landscaped gardens.

One of the first institutions in the nation to recognize the value of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, City of Hope incorporates a full spectrum of services by clinical experts while also providing care for a patient's emotional, mental and spiritual needs. Employees at City of Hope National Medical Center touch the lives of many, whether providing hands-on patient care, ancillary and support services, or managing the myriad behind-the-scenes tasks that ensure our business units run smoothly.

Over the years this strategy has culminated in many groundbreaking achievements, and attracted outstanding scientific minds. We now rank in the top 5 percent of institutions receiving funding from the National Institutes of Health, and are one of just a handful of National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers.The Beckman Research Institute has opportunities for the full spectrum of biomedical scientific training, from laboratory assistants to faculty members. Additionally, City of Hope offers a fully accredited Graduate School leading to a Ph.D. in Biological Science.

Their dedication and hard work help raise millions of dollars each year, providing crucial support for City of Hope’s mission.

Situated in the midst of the bustling metropolis that is Los Angeles, the Development Center is close to fine museums, theaters, restaurants, and shopping, as well as public transportation. From the 11th and 12th floor offices, spectacular 360-degree views look out on the Hollywood sign, Staples Center, and even the Pacific Ocean.

Seven regional offices across the country assist in our national fund-raising outreach to sustain the organization and its life-saving efforts. Staff members in these offices support fund-raising efforts of all types, from event production and gift planning to marketing and promotions. Employees staffed in regional development offices work closely with colleagues in the downtown Los Angeles Development headquarters and the Duarte campus.
