D., has joined City of Hope as vice president and chief pharmacy officer, where he will oversee all pharmacy services as well as radiation oncology services. Additionally, he will oversee programs to ensure medication safety, manage medication supplies and work collaboratively with physicians choosing appropriate patient drug therapies.
“We are delighted to have Dale Adams’ wealth of experience,” said Elizabeth Dunne, executive officer of City of Hope’s Medical Center. “He serves vital roles in enhancing patient safety and collaborating with clinicians to provide patients the most effective therapies.”
Prior to joining City of Hope, Adams served as vice president of medical services at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, Calif. There he supervised inpatient and ambulatory pharmacy, home health services, pediatric and adult cancer programs, and research programs. He oversaw nearly 500 employees and a budget of more than $200 million.
Adams also has extensive teaching experience, including more than 25 years as an adjunct professor with the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy, and with the University of California, San Francisco, School of Pharmacy, where for the past decade he has served as assistant dean.

Adams has contributed to numerous professional and civic groups and is a member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, the California Association of Health Services at Home, and the California Society of Health System Pharmacists. He has published articles in a number of journals including the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, and served as a peer reviewer and editor for several publications, including a stint as contributing editor for the United States Pharmacopoeia.
Adams received his doctorate in pharmacy at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy. He also completed a post-graduate residency program in Hospital Pharmacy Administration from Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Adams completed his undergraduate work at the University of California, Irvine.
