In recognition of our broad-based innovations in cancer research and treatment, our continuing commitment to compassionate patient care, and our initiatives in patient and community education, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) has designated City of Hope a Comprehensive Cancer Center — the highest level of recognition bestowed by the NCI. City of Hope is one of just a handful of elite institutions nationwide to receive this prestigious honor. 
Comprehensive Cancer Center Research Programs

City of Hope's Comprehensive Cancer Center provides a multidisciplinary, interactive environment, with basic, clinical and translational, and prevention and control scientists working closely together. The opportunities afforded for translational research in this stimulating intellectual environment contribute to the exciting and productive research under way within the Cancer Center.

Cancer Control and Population Sciences
The mission of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences (CCPS) Program is to advance the study of cancer development, improve cancer prevention and outcomes, and reduce the burden of cancer and its sequelae across all segments of the population through multidisciplinary collaboration in the areas of clinical service, research and education.

Cancer Immunotherapeutics
The Cancer Immunotherapeutics (CI) Program is focused on discovery and application to clinical practice of efficacious and minimally toxic immunotherapeutic interventions for cancer.

Developmental Cancer Therapeutics
The long-term goal of the Developmental Cancer Therapeutics (DCT) Program is to develop more effective and less toxic treatments for cancer.

Hematologic Malignancies
The long-term goal of the Hematologic Malignancies (HM) Program is to improve outcomes for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and multiple myeloma. 

Molecular Oncology Program
The overall scientific vision of the Molecular Oncology Program (MONC) is to investigate fundamental DNA and RNA biology for the purpose of understanding basic mechanisms of cancer and ultimately identifying potential new therapeutic approaches.

Clinical Programs

Brain Tumor Program
The close collaboration of a multidisciplinary team of specialists ensures that patients receive the most effective treatments known, including possible access to promising investigative therapies.

Breast Cancer Program
Our breast cancer program offers women the most advanced and compassionate care possible, including access to state-of-the-art technologies and therapies, some of which are not yet available at other medical centers.

Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism
As one of only 14 institutions in the United States to be designated an islet cell transplant center by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, City of Hope stands at the forefront of progressive therapies and procedures to effectively treat diabetes and other endocrine-related disorders.

Gastrointestinal Cancer Program
Highly experienced in diagnosing and treating patients with gastrointestinal cancers, our multidisciplinary team of specialists is persistent in pursuing new research and therapies to improve outcomes for abnormalities of the digestive system, specifically the colon, liver, esophagus, stomach, carcinoid, biliary tract, pancreas, small intestines and gallbladder.

Gynecologic Cancer Program
From genetic diagnosis to the development of novel therapies for patients with advanced disease such as ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancer, our gynecologic oncology treatments feature a multidisciplinary approach to care.

Leukemia Program
Pioneers in advancing care for all forms of leukemia, City of Hope is a leader in setting standards for treatment worldwide and in improving long-term outcomes for both children and adults.

Lung Cancer and Thoracic Oncology Program
The most advanced diagnostic and radiation technologies available, access to our clinical trials program and the coordinated care of specialists combine to provide the best possible outcomes for lung cancer patients.

Lymphoma Program
Recognized internationally for our contributions to the understanding of lymphoma, we treat patients with the newest treatments available, including therapies available only here.

Musculoskeletal Tumor Program
A coordinated team of experts delivers comprehensive treatments that integrate new and powerful anticancer drugs with strategies to spare patients’ limbs.

Pediatric Cancer Program
Within a compassionate, family-centered environment, our pediatric specialists are at the forefront of cancer care, developing treatment programs that strive to minimize hospitalization and design treatments for the best possible long-term survivorship. 

Supportive Care
The Sheri & Les Biller Patient and Family Resource Center embodies the heart and soul of City of Hope’s mission to care for the whole person. The Biller is led by multidisciplinary teams of professionals and volunteers, it offers the most integrated array of support services in the country, from psychological to palliative. 

Urologic Cancer Program
Our researchers and clinicians are leading the way in developing innovative methods for preventing, detecting and treating genitourinary cancers such as prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular.
