Gary F. Conner - City of Hope CFOCity of Hope’s chief financial officer, Gary F. Conner, oversees all areas of corporate finance and financial operations for the organization, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, audit, treasury, budgeting, patient financial services, materials management, purchasing and managed care contracting. As a member of the Executive Team, he works closely with each team member and the board of directors to develop new strategic initiatives that advance City of Hope’s mission.

Prior to joining City of Hope, Conner was vice president of financial operations for Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), the largest private nonprofit health-care provider in California. He also served as chief financial officer and senior vice president of CHW’s Southern California Division, where he was responsible for providing strategic planning, operational analysis, performance management, implementation of financial controls and coordination of annual audits. Additionally, he oversaw all of the chief financial officers in the company’s 40 health-care facilities, and was integral in CHW’s reorganization to an operating company.

Before CHW, Conner was chief financial officer of the Pacific Division at Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation in San Diego, Scripps Clinic Research Foundation and Green Hospital of Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, Calif., and Palm Drive Hospital in Sebastopol, Calif. He also served as controller at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Conner has served on the boards of several hospitals and health-care organizations including Encino/Tarzana Hospital, Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center, Integrated Management Services, Martin Luther and La Palma community Hospital, Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Riverside Community Hospital, Samaritan Medical Center and Southwest Catholic Health Network.

Conner received his bachelor’s degree in business management from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks and his Master of Business Administration from Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, Calif.
