 Ric Magnuson

Chief Financial Officer

Richard “Ric” Magnuson is chief financial officer at City of Hope. His responsibilities include overseeing all areas of the organization’s financial operations, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, audit, treasury, budgeting, patient financial services, medical records, materials management and purchasing.

Ric has over 27 years of experience in hospital, payer and research finance and has demonstrated success in building and maintaining collaborative relationships across all functions and levels within an organization. He joined City of Hope from Group Health Cooperative, a nonprofit health-care system in Seattle, where he served as executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer. Ric was responsible for Group Health Cooperative’s long-term financial strategy and oversaw all functions of the Finance Department.

Prior to his time at Group Health Cooperative, Ric served as chief financial officer for Fletcher Allen Health Care, in Burlington, Vt., and also for Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Mercy & Unity Hospitals in Minnesota.

Ric holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Augsburg College and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas, both in Minneapolis.
