Robert Stone, J.D., is the initial president and executive officer of the City of Hope Medical Foundation, a new entity launched in June 2011 to increase collaboration between physicians and staff and enable more coordinated care for patients. In this role, Stone works with the foundation board to plan, design and implement the foundation strategy. He is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the foundation, including overseeing the foundation-operated clinics, the management services staff in the foundation and managed care contracting for City of Hope.

As chief strategy and administrative officer, Stone oversees strategic planning and strategy management for City of Hope. The organization's chief human resources officer, general counsel and corporate secretary report to him.

Stone joined City of Hope in 1996 as associate general counsel and was promoted to general counsel for the medical center in 2000. In 2003, he was named as general counsel for City of Hope, encompassing all entities affiliated with the institution, including the medical center and Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope. He also previously oversaw the office of the board of directors and served as City of Hope's corporate secretary. 

Prior to City of Hope, Stone was a practicing attorney at the firms of Christa & Jackson and Hanna and Morton. He earned his law degree at the University of Chicago Law School.
