A skin-care company and an Emmy-nominated soap opera star have come together to create a new soap collection benefiting City of Hope’s breast cancer research. Longtime supporter Andrea Evans of “One Life to Live” and “Passions” worked with Lather, based in Pasadena, Calif., to create sandalwood rose soap.
The all-natural soap is sold singly or as part of a Soap for Hope gift set (two bars and a soap dish). Lather will donate to City of Hope $5 from the sale of each $8 bar of soap, and $12 from each $20 gift set sold, through September 2010.
The soap was launched Sept. 27 with an event at Lather’s Pasadena store featuring Evans and surgeon Laura L. Kruper, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of General Oncologic Surgery.
Evans was the 2008 celebrity ambassador for Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer, marking her eighth consecutive year at Walk. She also hosted programming on the PINK Channel, the XM Satellite Radio partnership between City of Hope and Premiere Radio Networks, during the week of Aug. 25.
Sandalwood rose soap and the Soap for Hope gift set can be purchased online at www.lather.com or Lather locations in Pasadena, San Jose, Calif., Scottsdale, Ariz., and New York City.
