| Breast cancer tends to grow faster in younger women. According to Norwegian researchers, breast tumors in women age 50 to 59 years took an average of 1.4 years to double in size, compared to an average of 2.1 years among those aged 60 to 69 years old. The American Cancer Society sites the research as further evidence that women should begin yearly mammograms at age 40. |

Wear your undergarments as outerwear and join us on Aug. 2 for City of Hope’s Underwear Affair presented by Jockey, a hip and fun 10k run/5k walk raising money and awareness to support research and treatment for cancers that occur below the waist. Suit up in your favorite pair of pajamas, boxers or other underwear and raise money for a great cause. Festivities begin at 3 p.m. The run/walk starts at 6 p.m. and is followed by an after-party that lasts until 10 p.m., featuring music, entertainment, sponsored booths, food and drinks.

Keep on Walkin’. Registration has opened for all 2008 Walk for Hope event sites, including the Philadelphia metro area on Sept. 28, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, Chicago and Washington, D.C. in October, and Los Angeles on Nov. 9. Can’t make it to an event? Try one of these other ways to help.
