Three common items with one common cause Photo of darts in bullseye
Though seemingly from different worlds, three things you might use every day can make a big impact on breast cancer research, treatment and education.

Did you know?

The amount and type of carbohydrates a woman eats can affect her risk of breast cancer. Foods with a high "glycemic load" such as pretzels and potatoes can cause blood sugar levels to surge rapidly. Lower glycemic load foods cause a slower change. Swedish researchers recently found that women with high-glycemic load diets were at significantly higher risk of breast cancer. They suspect high-glycemic load diets may increase concentrations of insulin and sex hormones, which might boost the development and spread of breast cancer cells. The study supports the breast-health benefits of a low-glycemic load diet. The American Cancer Society has information on other ways women can reduce their risk of breast cancer, too.
