| Cigarette smoke — including secondhand smoke — may cause many cancer deaths beyond just those from lung cancer. Recent research suggests tobacco smoke may have led to more than 70 percent of all cancer deaths among Massachusetts men in 2003. The study’s authors suggest that many cancers blamed on environmental or dietary causes may have been caused by smoking after all. For more information on smoking and lung disease, including how you can quit smoking, see the American Lung Association’s Web site. |
