| We’re ALL IN this together |
| We’re going “All In” to find a cure for women’s cancers, and you’re invited to join us. Music sensation Miley Cyrus and her mom did. So what do you say? |
| Climate might be a factor in prostate cancer. Researchers in Idaho found an indirect link between colder, drier weather and higher prostate cancer rates. The researchers suspect the true culprit is pollution. Certain pollutants degrade more slowly in cold weather, so they might build to more threatening levels in colder areas. The study adds another possible explanation for why U.S. and European prostate cancer incidence is higher in northern areas than in the south. Other research has pointed to lower vitamin D levels. The body produces vitamin D, which can lower prostate cancer risk, when exposed to UV sunlight. But less sunlight in the north means less vitamin D and less protection. The National Cancer Institute has more information on how to lower prostate cancer risk. |
