Did you know?
Early balding may point to increased prostate cancer risk. French researchers compared nearly 390 men diagnosed with the disease with their healthy counterparts and found those with the disease were twice as likely to have begun losing their hair at age 20. The same correlation did not hold for men who began balding in their 30s or 40s. The researchers acknowledged the need for more study but suggested men who begin losing hair at a young age may benefit from earlier prostate screening or possibly even chemoprevention therapy to stave off the disease. City of Hope has more information on prostate cancer risk factors.
