Nobel laureate Peter C. Doherty, Ph.D., will speak on campus on Sept. 14.
Doherty shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with partner Rolf M. Zinkernagel, Ph.D., in 1996 for their discovery of how the immune system recognizes virus-infected cells. He will discuss “Plagues, Pestilence and Influenza” during his talk at 2 p.m. in Cooper Auditorium.
Currently, Doherty is the Michael F. Tamer Chair of Biomedical Research and co-leader of the Infection and Host Defense Program at St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
