City of Hope awarded 2005 Team Awards to five teams in recognition of their efforts to improve operational efficiencies within the institution. City of Hope administrators selected the winning teams from among 12 nominated candidates representing four institutional arenas. The winning teams were "Intranet-based, Pre-printed Medication Orders" and "Pacs Implementation" from Patient Care; "IAS Invoice Approval" from Business Support Services; "Walk for Hope 'Think Pink'" from Development & External Affairs; and "Combined Equipment Purchases" from Research.

"This year, a smaller number of teams were nominated for the awards, reflecting the fact that hundreds of employees were busy with two key institutional projects preparation for CALS/ JCAHO, and transition into the new Helford Clinical Research Hospital," said Mark Crowell, director of Organizational Planning & Improvement. "Since these two projects have already received a great deal of attention and recognition, they were ineligible for the Team Awards program."

The teams receiving awards will have their members' names engraved on a plaque that is placed outside of Cafeteria Conference Room B on the Medical Center campus. Winning team members also will receive their choice of a $100 U.S. Savings Bond or a $50 gift card to one of a variety of stores, restaurants and spas.

The awards were announced at the 2005 "Celebrate Hope" holiday event in December. Photos are slated to be available for viewing on the City of Hope intranet in late January.
