City of Hope to host clinical trials panel; Larry Mantle of "AirTalk" to moderate

By Darrin S. Joy

Larry Mantle from KPCC radio program "AirTalk with Larry Mantle" will moderate a panel discussion on clinical trials on Feb. 27.

Scheduled for 7 p.m. in Cooper Auditorium at City of Hope, the event aims to educate and inform the public about the value and importance of clinical research. The event is free and open to the public. The discussion panel will feature City of Hope President and Chief Executive Officer Michael A. Friedman, M.D. Several noted guests will join Friedman for the event.

Friedman frequently joins Mantle as a guest on "AirTalk,” which airs weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon on station 89.3 KPCC. His appearances on the program and City of Hope’s prominence in clinical research prompted station producers to approach the institution about hosting the panel.

KPCC is scheduled to air the event the following morning during the regular broadcast of "AirTalk." 89.3 KPCC is the flagship station of Southern California Public Radio. In the past three years, the station has won more awards for journalism excellence than any other in Southern California. Its Web site is www.kpcc.org.
