Time for nursing staff to show their satisfaction

by Mary Fischer

Starting today through April 22, City of Hope staff RNs will participate in the Inaugural Staff Nurse Satisfaction Survey conducted by the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI). Collection of nurse satisfaction data is required by the Magnet Recognition Program, and data is nationally benchmarked against the results from similar units.

Eligible nurses (staff nurses with at least 50 percent responsibility for bedside nursing and who began working here by Dec. 6, 2006) received a letter last week providing the access code for the online survey and the procedure for completing the survey on a computer either on campus or remotely from home.

Survey responses are anonymous, but after completing the survey participants can print a Certificate of Completion redeemable for a $5 gift card at the cafeteria or Bistro, an incentive jointly contributed to by the Nursing Department and Sodexho food services. Additionally, units and clinics that achieve a 90 percent or better participation rate by the end of the survey are eligible for a “food event.” Certificate submission and/or questions should be directed to Mary Fischer, City of Hope’s NDNQI site coordinator, at ext. 65623.
