Workers climb scaffolding around the Spirit of Life® fountain to give the work a thorough cleaning. The Spirit of Life, a bronze sculpture by Robert I. Russin, symbolizes City of Hope’s belief in the fundamental role of the family in fostering health and well-being. Although City of Hope’s branding initiative recently altered the institution’s logo, updating it to a more stylized representation of the family, icons that form a significant part of City of Hope’s legacy, such as the Spirit of Life fountain, will remain as important elements.
