Santa Claus takes a break during the holidays to visit City of Hope’s Blood Donor Center to donate much-needed platelets for patients battling cancer and other serious illnesses.

Cancer does not take a break for holidays, Blood Donor Center administrators said, and recruiters are appealing for donors to give blood to kick off the new year. “Our need for blood products remains strong and consistent year-round,” said Jill Schwarz, manager of whole blood and platelet recruitment at City of Hope.
