Vijay Trisal, M.D., was quoted in an April 21TIME.com story about recent research that showed patients with melanoma on the scalp or neck have lower survival rates compared to those with melanoma on other sites. He was also interviewed on KCAL-TV on April 21 and KCBS-TV on April 21 and 22.

Patient advocacy manager Louise Sipos was quoted in an April 15 Los Angeles Times supplement article about doctor-patient communication and when patients should consider switching doctors.

The April 18 issues of the Pasadena Star-News and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported on Shirley Johnson being named chief nursing and patient services officer and Sharon Steingass’ promotion to vice president of ambulatory services.

The Pasadena Star-News on April 19 and the San Gabriel Valley Tribune on April 16 ran stories about a $1 million donation from Norman and Melinda Payson’s private foundation to benefit City of Hope’s graduate school.  Betty Ferrell, Ph.D., wrote an editorial and was quoted in an article in the spring issue of CURE magazine about the need for palliative care for cancer patients regardless of the disease’s prognosis.

On April 17, the Chronicle of Philanthropy reported City of Hope has named Robert Powell as senior vice president of research operations. 

ClearChannel.com published a story on April 17 about the music and entertainment industry’s second annual Taste of Hope event, which raised more than $185,000 for City of Hope.

Honolulu station KITV-TV (ABC) aired a segment on April 17 showcasing a standup
comedy show that will benefit City of Hope.

On April 15, WGN-TV (CW) in Chicago aired segments about a telethon that raised money for City of Hope.
