Members of the California Quake, a full contact professional women’s tackle football team representing Long Beach and the Greater Los Angeles area, will visit City of Hope on May 9.
Several team members will register as blood and platelet donors for the institution’s T cell program, and City of Hope staff members are encouraged to attend.
The T cell donor program, led by Dave DiGiusto, Ph.D., director of hematopoietic cell therapies, continually seeks healthy individuals to donate white blood cells to help advance research in helping fight cancer with engineered T cells.
The Quake also has chosen City of Hope as its charity of choice and will donate a portion of proceeds from its May 10 game at Downey High School. The game, dubbed “Tackle Cancer,” will promote City of Hope and other cancer research organizations to raise cancer awareness.

Employees are invited and encouraged to go to the Blood Donor Center at 2 p.m. on May 9 to meet the players, take pictures, get autographs and free game tickets and participate in other giveaways.
