The May 3 event, which kicked off the 2008 Walk for Hope season, featured live
music and a survivor pavilion. The local presenting sponsor, Albertsons/Sav-on, which was represented by a team of more than 650 participants, helped propel the event’s success. More than 2,300 walkers participated in all.
“Giving back to the community is a big part of the Albertsons culture, and our associates are thrilled to be part of something that positively impacts so many women,” said Sue Klug, president of Albertsons Southern California.
On the other side of the country, more than 1,500 East Coast supporters donned their walking shoes on June 8, helping to raise more than $100,000 at the Edison, N.J., Walk for Hope. Committed to raising $1 million before she graduates from college in 2011, standout City of Hope supporter Janna Zuckerman started the Edison Walk in 2002 to honor her friend, Michelle Offsie, who succumbed to
breast cancer in 2002.
City of Hope campus employees can mark their calendars for Nov. 9, when thousands will again gather in Duarte, Calif., for the Los
Angeles-area Walk.
