Improved online calendar available through new Web site makes events unforgettable

By Ryan Vincent

With the arrival of City of Hope’s new Web site comes a new online calendar that offers something for everybody.

Want to subscribe to particular types of events? Need to submit a new event, including photos and maps? Want to add events into an electronic calendar? All these things are possible with the new calendar system. The calendar can even send reminders to a cell phone.

By visiting the intranet (www.coh.org/master-calendar), employees may subscribe to entire categories such as Education Events, Walk for Hope, Research/Medical or Fundraising Events. Subscribers will then receive weekly e-mail reminders tailored to their categories of interest.

Anyone wanting to add a single event to their calendar may select the checkbox next to the event and hit the “Add to My Calendar” button. Not only can users add the event to their City of Hope Outlook calendars, but they can also add it to a Yahoo!, AOL, MSN, Google or Apple iCal calendar.

Submitting new events is easy, too. Staff may click on “Submit an Event” from the left-hand column of the page and follow the prompts.

For e-mail or text message reminders, users may click on the “Other Event Actions...” pull-down menu and make their choice.

For non-City of Hope employees unable to access the intranet, the calendar can be found at www.cityofhope.org/calendar, where anyone can subscribe to events and use the calendar’s features. The calendar can also be found in the right columns of the main sections of the Web site (Patient Care, Research, Education, Giving, About City of Hope), under the heading “Events.”

For more information on subscribing or submitting events to the new calendar, please contact Sara Lewis at calendar@coh.org.
