City of Hope and Premiere Radio Networks have launched The Pink Channel, the first radio channel supporting the fight against cancer, particularly cancers that affect women. City of Hope is the channel’s exclusive beneficiary.
Airing 24 hours a day every day on XM Satellite Radio channel 24, The Pink Channel features pop hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s, as well as segments on health and wellness, personal development, trend reports and more.
In addition, a weekly celebrity host reports on City of Hope’s cancer research and treatment programs, shares personal stories and reads listener dedications. Jordin Sparks of “American Idol,” Grammy-winner Olivia Newton-John, actress Andrea Evans of “One Life to Live,” Jillian Michaels of “The Biggest Loser” and singer P!nk, among others, are slated to serve as upcoming weekly hosts. The channel officially launched Aug. 18.
City of Hope provides features that run each day about research and treatment, question-and-answer segments with physicians, and tools for how to cope when a friend or loved one is diagnosed with cancer. Segments also will include tips on lifestyle choices that can help listeners safeguard their health and reduce their risk of cancer. Cancer survivors will share their personal stories to inspire and motivate listeners.
City of Hope will receive a portion of advertising and online retail sales revenue, as well as all the listener donations collected through the channel’s Web site, www.pinkchannelradio.com. The site also will feature extended content and licensed apparel and other merchandise.
“Cancer touches so many lives, either directly or indirectly, making The Pink Channel relevant to women everywhere, every day,” said Premiere’s Pink Channel creator Debbi Petrasek Brown. “As the first national media outlet committed to supporting the fight against cancer ‘24/seven/365,’ we’re proud to partner with City of Hope to create a new paradigm in the world of cause marketing.”
Alexandra Levine, M.D., City of Hope chief medical officer, noted, “The Pink Channel is an important next step in the fight against cancer. We’re excited to share our research breakthroughs with listeners and to give voice to survivors who remind us that making cancer a curable and ultimately preventable disease is within our reach.
“City of Hope is pleased to partner with Premiere Radio Networks on this innovative concept and to empower listeners across the country to become active participants in the search for a cure.”
