Blood and platelets are vital for City of Hope patients’ treatment and recovery, and this need struck a chord with donors from the Duarte, Calif., campus and local community at the recent “Rockin’ for Blood” event.Volunteers responded by donating 50 units of blood during the drive, which was held July 23.
The event, held in collaboration with 93.1 JACK-FM at Cooper Auditorium, featured music and giveaways from the radio station. Donors also enjoyed a hot dog lunch and snow cones and received entries for a $100 gas card raffle.
“We are pleased with the success of this event,” said Jill Schwarz, blood donor recruitment manager, “but it’s important to know that we need blood and platelets all year long to support the great work done at City of Hope.”
