Walk organizers lay out pink carpet for employees

City of Hope employees who join the Walk for Hope Pink Carpet Club play an important leadership role building enthusiasm and support for Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer, according to event organizers. This year’s Walk will be held Nov. 9.

The Pink Carpet Club is a group of City of Hope employee-led teams representing the institution’s commitment to fight cancer through their support of Walk for Hope. All members of a team started by a City of Hope employee — whether they are employees, friends or family — are members of the Pink Carpet Club and receive the benefits of the program.

“We expect approximately 9,000 supporters to join us on campus in the fight against breast cancer,” said Dan Lacovara, associate vice president of communications.

The Los Angeles Walk is City of Hope’s largest community outreach event and its success is due in large part to the participation and support of dedicated employees, Lacovara said. In 2007, employee-sponsored Pink Carpet Club teams raised nearly $70,000. They were led by top fundraising team captains Deanna Renna and Linda Baginski.

Alexandra Levine, M.D., chief medical officer, “remains deeply committed to Walk,” said Lacovara. She will serve again as Pink Carpet Club committee chair this year.

Registration is open now for the Pink Carpet Club through the intranet at www.coh.org/pcc or by visiting the Walk for Hope Web site at www.walk4hope.org/la. For more information on the event or the Pink Carpet Club, please contact walk4hope@coh.org.
