Thomas elected to board

Jay R. Thomas, M.D., Ph.D., Arthur M. Coppola Family Chair in Supportive Care Medicine, has been elected to the board of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Thomas, chair of City of Hope’s Department of Supportive Care Medicine, was selected to a director-at-large position and will begin his term on March 27, 2009. The organization, established in 1988, has grown to encompass more than 3,600 physicians.

An expert in palliative care, Thomas joined the Department of Supportive Care Medicine in July.
