City of Hope employees, supporters and their families and friends can soon get some exercise, explore Los Angeles’ distinctive neighborhoods and fight cancer all at the same time through the Acura L.A. Bike Tour.

Anyone can join the City of Hope fundraising team riding the May 25 bike tour in support of ThinkCure, the official charity of the Los Angeles Dodgers. ThinkCure backs collaborative cancer research at City of Hope and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

The ride comes with perks, too: The first 50 riders to register on the City of Hope team will receive a free pair of tickets to a Dodgers baseball game this season. Cyclists who raise at least $200 will receive a ThinkCure L.A. Bike Tour T-shirt, discounts from bike shops and businesses and access to ThinkCure’s VIP tent at the bike tour’s expo. Cyclists who raise $1,500 will receive a ThinkCure L.A. Bike Tour T-shirt, discounts to local bike shops and businesses, access to ThinkCure’s VIP tent and an invitation to the ThinkCure suite at a Dodger game.

The tour will waive entry fees for ThinkCure participants, and everyone finishing receives a medal.

“We are grateful for the partnership that City of Hope has with ThinkCure, the official charity of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and their help in our work to develop new treatments for all patients suffering from cancer,” said Stephen J. Forman, M.D., Francis and Kathleen McNamara Distinguished Chair in Hematology and Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation.

The Acura L.A. Bike Tour welcomes cyclists of all levels, with any kind of bike, to join the easy, 22-mile ride through Los Angeles neighborhoods including Leimert Park and the Miracle Mile. The tour kicks off at 5 a.m., and riders start and finish near the University of Southern California campus.
