“Thank you” video garners first Telly Award

By Vicky Hoffman

City of Hope recently received its first Telly Award for one of its fund-raising videos.

Called “Thank You,” the video originally was created for Disney’s Concert for Hope, a 2008 musical benefit event. Screened amid a screaming audience of teenagers waiting to see pop artists Miley Cyrus,  the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, City of Hope’s video and its message of deep gratitude silenced the crowd. Since its debut, the video has been showcased at numerous fundraising events to thank supporters in attendance.

The video won the Telly in the awards’ charitable/not-for-profit category.

The Telly Awards honor the world’s best local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions and work created for the Web. Since 1978, the mission of the Telly Awards has been to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting and supporting creativity. The 29th Annual Telly Awards received more than 14,000 entries, including submissions from every state and five continents.
