Food options extend to weekend for information system’s launch

By Roya Alt

Employees gearing up for the upcoming launch of the City of Hope Information System (CIS) may be busy, but they will not go hungry. City of Hope has extended food options for staff during launch weekend.

Campus dining venues open on Aug. 1 and 2 include these locations:

  • The Bistro:  7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • The Brawerman Coffee Cart (which features premium coffees and teas, baked goods and sandwiches): 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To celebrate the transition to CIS and employees’ many months of effort, Carl’s Jr. will offer food on campus on Aug. 6 at 11 p.m. and Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. Employees can enjoy popular menu items, including the Famous Star Combo, the Western Bacon Cheeseburger Combo and the Spicy Chicken Combo, for $3.50 each through a subsidy from City of Hope. The Carl’s Jr. truck will park outside the cafeteria for daytime staff and in the Department of Human Resources parking lot to accommodate nightshift employees.

“Our staff has really pulled together to make sure our transition to the CIS is seamless,” said Warren Chandler, chief information officer. “A major focus of CIS implementation has been to ensure our employees are fully supported. We’re offering extended food service hours to staff who will be working long hours the weekend of August 1 so that they don’t need to worry about leaving campus for their meals. In addition, the Hospitality Committee, chaired by Bob Cuthbertson, has arranged to bring Carl’s Jr. to the medical center on two days, in appreciation for our staff’s efforts.”

Tickets for the Carl’s Jr. truck will be sold at the cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 29, 30 and 31. Nighttime staff may buy their tickets on the same days from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Purchasing Department.
