More than 120 female executives from Thomson Reuters and their clients and business partners recently teed off against cancer at Hope on the Hudson, the company’s fifth annual women’s event. The golf-themed networking event on Aug. 13 raised about $93,000, with an additional $100,000 from a major gift to fight women’s cancers at City of Hope.
Held at the Golf Club at Chelsea Piers in New York City, Hope on the Hudson allowed women to work on their golf skills with the help of pro staff at a complex overlooking the Hudson River. The event also included an evening of networking and a raffle.
Thomson Reuters and its women’s employee network, Women@Thomson Reuters, are longtime supporters of City of Hope. In its five-year history, the annual Thomson Reuters women’s event has raised nearly $600,000 for City of Hope.
“We’re proud to bring together women from the financial, legal, consulting, technology and other industries — as well as our own women’s network — to support City of Hope and this very important cause,” said Nancy Gardner, executive vice president, general counsel and diversity officer at Thomson Reuters.
Debra Walton, global head of market development at Thomson Reuters, also was enthusiastic about the organization’s work with City of Hope. “As you can tell by the incredible support for our event year after year, Thomson Reuters and our outstanding partners are passionate believers of the lifesaving work being done by the physicians and researchers,” Walton said. “We aspire to give greater hope and greater dreams to those who are affected by deadly diseases, particularly women’s cancers.”
