Walk for Hope raffle offers eco-friendly wheels and bag with a celebrity touch

One lucky walker will head home from the Los Angeles Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer Nationally Presented by Staples with a new means of transport — a ride festooned with some celebrity ink.

A battery-powered bicycle will be up for raffle at the fundraising walk, held Oct. 25 at the City of Hope campus. Courtesy of local sponsors The Greenbike, the limited-edition pink vehicle comes with a flashy accessory: a pink saddlebag autographed by Oprah Winfrey and the cast of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.”

Raffle tickets cost $5 each, or five for $20. They are available on the day of the event in the expo area starting at 8 a.m. The prize drawing will take place at 11 a.m. on the team stage. The raffle winner must be present to claim the prize.

The bike can be pedaled just like any other or switch over to battery power to cover up to 40 miles on a single charge. Recommended for riders 16 and older, the vehicle has a top speed of 20 mph. Its battery is rechargeable using any household outlet. Visit www.thegreenbike.org for more information.
