The Department of Molecular Biology is undergoing a name change to the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology to better reflect the activities within the department and to assist in the placement of future faculty recruits.
Richard Jove, Ph.D., director of Beckman Research Institute, noted that personnel in the department will remain unchanged. The department’s professors include its chair — John J. Rossi, Ph.D., Lidow Family Research Chair — and Marcia Miller, Ph.D., associate chair, Keiichi Itakura, Ph.D., R.J. Lin, Ph.D., Adam Bailis, Ph.D., Piroska Szabo, Ph.D., and Sergei Rodin, Ph.D., Dr. Susumo Ohno Chair in Theoretical Biology. The department’s research professors include Chauncey Bowers, Ph.D., Daniela Castanotto, Ph.D., and Robert Whitson, Ph.D.
