Michael A. Friedman, M.D. City of Hope president and chief executive officer, has been appointed to the board of directors of Tulane University, his alma mater.

Friedman earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in 1965.

Tulane board members serve for a term of three years and are elected by Tulane’s board of administrators.

“Michael Friedman brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, vision and dedication to our board. I look forward to his guidance and counsel as we continue to fulfill the promise of Tulane,” said Scott Cowan, Ph.D., Tulane University president.

Friedman said he was honored by the selection. “I look forward to helping the university build upon its tradition of academic excellence,” he added. “This is especially meaningful, as my youngest daughter and son-in-law are both currently pursuing their doctoral degrees at Tulane.”
