City of Hope message hits the air — and the airwaves

By Colleen Finn

Air travel will soon get a little more informative — and maybe even uplifting — thanks to City of Hope messages set to hit airports and plane flights this month.

In May 2008, City of Hope made its first appearance on the CNN Airport Network when it was featured in Hilton HHonors ads. Now, City of Hope is back on the network. This time, the network will run a City of Hope public service announcement featuring actor Keifer Sutherland.

The CNN Airport Network airs in 43 of the nation’s busiest airports, appearing on monitors at more than 2,000 gates and other viewing areas.

City of Hope will reach into airplane cabins, too. Travelers flying on American or Northwest airlines can listen to Sky Radio to hear interviews with experts from City of Hope. Hilton Hotels Corporation, a long-standing City of Hope supporter, sponsors the interviews on nearly 35,000 flights each month.

Topics include “The Link Between Cancer and Genetics,” “The Mind/Body Connection to Cancer,” “The Role of Corporate Philanthropy Today” and much more. All of the interviews also will be available online at www.skyradionet.com.

The CNN Airport Network and Sky Radio will continue to run the spots for several months.
