Noted health-care executive Sandra Bolton, R.N., J.D., joined City of Hope on March 2 as vice president of professional services.

In her newly created position, Bolton reports to Alexandra M. Levine, M.D., chief medical officer, and assists Levine in collaborating with all patient-focused departments, department chairs and administrators. In the coming months, she will work closely with City of Hope executive leadership, clinical department chairs and faculty to develop and facilitate medical center programs and services that benefit City of Hope patients and the organization.
Bolton will be responsible for coordinating physician recruitment with the City of Hope Medical Group and facilitating new physicians’ transition to City of Hope’s patient-care team. She also will contribute to graduate medical education and continuing medical education programs.
“I’m very excited to have Sandra on board,” said Levine. “We’re very fortunate to have someone with her breadth of experience and knowledge in this new position.”
Bolton joined City of Hope after five years as executive director of Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County, which she founded in 2003. She raised more than $7.5 million for that organization, oversaw construction of a 7,000-square-foot dental facility and collaborated with the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and Children’s Hospital of Orange County to establish the first dental residency program in Orange County.
She previously served as chief administrator for Perinatal Associates of Southern California, a physician practice group at the University of California, Irvine, a director of nursing at Western Medical Center Santa Ana, and a staff attorney for the legal firm of Bonne, Jones, Bridges, Mueller, O’Keefe & Hunt.
“City of Hope’s mission is very much in line with my experience in health care and the nonprofit community,” said Bolton. “I’m looking forward to serving our patients, faculty and staff.”
She received her associate degree in nursing from Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles and her Juris Doctor from Western State College of Law. She also completed a fellowship in the Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
