More than 300 City of Hope staff members will move to nearby offices in Monrovia in the next two weeks, according to City of Hope officials. The move takes place on the third and fourth weekends in May.
Nine departments will relocate to an office building at 800 Royal Oaks Drive. Corporate accounting, patient business services, central processing, finance and managed care will move May 14 through 16. Human resources and information sciences employees will move May 21 through 23. Purchasing and information technology services staff each will divide their moves over both weekends.

According to Gary Schultz, director of facilities management, moving the departments will accommodate growth at the Duarte campus and improve working conditions for those in the departments that are moving.
“We currently have a large number of employees on campus, and our facilities and infrastructure have been straining to support their needs for several years,” Schultz said. Many of the employees scheduled for relocation perform administrative work, so moving them to the Monrovia offices will free office space for patient-care and research faculty, staff and services on campus.
“Relocating employees also should improve the parking situation on campus by freeing up spaces,” said Schultz, who heads a committee coordinating move logistics and easing the transition.
The team recently posted information about the move and the services affected on a new City of Hope intranet page: www.coh.org/monrovia.
“We want to be sure all staff are comfortable with the move and understand how key functions will operate,” said Schultz. “We’ve also made ourselves available for questions from any staff concerned with how the change will affect them.”
City of Hope employees can learn more about the new location and the planned moves on the intranet page. Staff members with other questions may submit them to monroviamove@coh.org, and a member of the move committee will respond as quickly as possible, Schultz said.
The Monrovia Chamber of Commerce will help celebrate City of Hope’s move-in and welcome staff members during a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on May 13 at the Monrovia offices. Monrovia’s mayor, Mary Ann Lutz, as well as chamber ambassadors and board members are expected to attend.
