A tribute with tradition
Michael A. Friedman, M.D., president and chief executive officer, left, presents an award to Smita Bhatia, M.D., M.P.H., as part of a ceremony marking her investiture with the Ruth Ziegler Chair in Population Sciences. A $2.5 million gift from Ruth Ziegler established the endowed chair.

Bhatia, who joined City of Hope in 1996, is internationally recognized for her work in population sciences, in particular for efforts in cancer survivorship and disparities in health outcomes. She was honored at an event at the Visitor Center on July 7. (Photo by Fred Lee)
