The City of Hope/city of Duarte Rose Parade float, themed “Harvesting Good Health,” cruises east on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, Calif., on the morning of the New Year’s Day parade.

The float, the 37th entry created jointly by Duarte and City of Hope, won the parade’s Past President’s Trophy for most creative use of floral and nonfloral elements. Patients Raphael Forbes, of Upland, Michael Miyamoto, of Walnut, Kelsy Lopez and Jessica Mastan, of Pasadena, and Karina Melchor, of Anaheim, rode aboard the float along with Awa Jones, R.N., clinical nurse manager. City of Hope staff and community volunteers helped decorate the float. (Photo by Chris Lovdahl)
