Community forum tackles end-of-life issues, reform

City of Hope and KPCC 89.3 will sponsor an upcoming free community forum on critical end-of-life issues.

One of the most difficult topics to emerge in the ongoing debate over health-care reform is how to best care for people in the final stages of life. The forum brings together panelists who will discuss the treatment that should be provided — and who should pay for it.

Panelists include Alexander Capron, L.L.B., professor of law and medicine at the University of Southern California, and Kathryn L. Tucker, director of legal affairs for the nonprofit Compassion & Choices. Larry Mantle, host of KPCC’s “AirTalk” program, will moderate the discussion, which will be taped for “AirTalk.”

The event will be held Feb. 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the California Endowment, 1000 N. Alameda St., Los Angeles. Reservations may be made through airtalk@kpcc.com or 626-585-7564.
