Stroll, jog or run to back cancer research in Los Angeles area

By Alicia Di Rado

Members of the City of Hope community are invited to run or walk to raise money for ThinkCure at the upcoming NPN LA Marathon 5K.

The nonprofit ThinkCure, the official charity of the Los Angeles Dodgers, supports cancer research at City of Hope and Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

The 5K, named for sponsor New Performance Nutrition, takes place March 20, the day before the Los Angeles Marathon. The 3.1-mile event will begin at the marathon start line at Dodger Stadium and run through Elysian Park. Organizers expect about 4,000 runners and walkers at the event.

Participants raising money for ThinkCure will receive perks:

  • $200 or more — ThinkCure T-shirt and entry into the ThinkCure post-race tent at the 5K run and marathon expo, with breakfast and massages.
  • $500 or more — an additional ThinkCure sports water bottle and a “meet-and-greet” session with Dodgers representatives.
  • $1,000 or more — previous perks and free entry into Los Angeles Marathon or 5K and marathon training program.
